Worst service, won't help out children who desperately need to see a doctor. When they have appointments available! Should be ashamed!!
If there were an option to select 0 stars, I would. Worse service ever. Extremely disappointing that I left Northwest health to be treated this poorly, no customer service experience. No care for people!
I have lived in Tamworth for the past 20 years and never had any problems with Peel Healthcare except for the occasional over-run in the waiting room to see my regular GP, Dr Kirkwood. If I inadvertently ran low on my medication, reception staff were always able to slot me in for a brief consultation at short notice so I could renew my prescription. Unfortunately for me, Dr Kirkwood retired at the end of 2017, so I will have to get used to another doctor but I won't be changing medical centres. I've always found the reception and nursing staff at Peel Healthcare to be very friendly, obliging and competent at their jobs. It is a fact of life in rural communities, there is little choice when it comes to signing up with a medical practice as many of them have closed books and I admit having to wait weeks to get an appointment to see my GP can be a little frustrating at times. However, if it was an emergency or I was very ill, I would simply go straight to the hospital.
I think most of us would agree that when we go to see a doctor, we are actually expecting to see an ACTUAL DOCTOR and if there is a trainee in the room they are supervised. At least, that's what used to happen when I was younger. If you attended an appointment you saw a real doctor and was asked if it was okay if the trainee was in the room to observe.I also think most people would agree that if a person is attempting to work in the health care industry as a doctor it is paramount that they actually READ the patient information in front of them AND actually listen.Where to start? Well, first of all, if you require actual medical attention - do not bother with Peel "Health Care". I suffer from a range of chronic illnesses and so of course I receive treatment for them. After my last appointment (and trust me, it would be the last) with Peel Health Care, I made a formal complaint regarding a the UNSUPERVISED trainee (who appeared to have just left high school) I saw for my appointment who not only had absolutely no interest in anything I had to say, refused to read any of the information (including letters and information from actual specialists) that was in the computer system regarding my medical history had the gall to belittle my illness and what I am - and have been - going through for at least the last 6 years. Afterward, when the prescription this "doctor" had written was taken to a local pharmacy, I would told they could not legally fill it due to the health care provider number being incorrect (or something to that effect. That is, the person who wrote the prescription is not legally supposed to be writing them). Not being interested in listening OR reading a patient's medical history - including CURRENT medications is not just a disrespectful to the patient, it could be downright FATAL. I'm sure I don't need explain medication interactions, people who are taking heart medications, etc etc.Peel "Health Care" was not at all interested in this however. The letter I received in reply to my complaint simply said that I should be aware that the "doctors" at Peel Health are trainees and I should go elsewhere if I have a serious health condition (that's right, jaw dropping isn't it? A medical center saying if you actually require medical attention, go elsewhere). No follow up phone call, no apology from the trainee I saw, no plan of action or communications training... Simply summed up: if you're actually sick - go elsewhere. "We're just trainees here".What happened to me that day was upsetting, absolutely, but I am more concerned for other people who might attend appointments at this "medical center" and feel the need to warn people as Peel "Health Care" thinks throwing the excuse "trainee" (again unsupervised in the room during consultation) is an adequate response to something that is a very serious problem and could very well put other people's lives in danger. This is the kind of "care" this "service" unapologetically provides. That's what really makes me angry - these are peoples lives you're dealing with!Other than that, I will say the reception staff seem very friendly. But we all know we don't go to see "a doctor" to visit with the receptionists.
First issue I arrived at my appointment on time and booked in. The receptionist took my details and booked me in. Sat there for 40mins then went and asked the receptionist how long my appointment will be. She has a look and says that the dr has been overbooked and will be at least another hour. I don't know why she didn't say when I first arrived but she just virtually ignored my question when I asked. So I rebooked an appointment for the next day as my wife had to return to work. Turn up the next day to be told that the dr is running at least an hour and a half late. How at 11 can a dr be an hour and a half late and why aren't people being told this before they arrive. My honest opinion is that the front desk are overbooking these appointments. The simple reason I think that is why would a dr want to make himself go home late? It doesn't make sense. Peel Health you guys need a to take a look at procedures at the front desk and sort them. I am not the only one that this has happened to. Unfortunately I cannot change practices which is what I would do if I could. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PEEL HEALTH TO ANYONE THAT NEEDS ANYTHING DONE OTHER THAN A DRS CERTIFICATE.
